Journey to Pihemanu

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs has just released “Journey to Pihemanu,” a video about a Hawaiian cultural practitioners trip to Midway Atoll.

In December 2013, a team of Hawaiian cultural practitioners journeyed to Midway Atoll (Pihemanu) to experience the place and compose songs and chants about what makes Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument so special.

Immersing themselves in the nature and culture of the place, the team sought to create products that interpret Papahānaumokuākea from a Native Hawaiian viewpoint.
